NASHVILLE, Tennessee - Recognizing excellence in patient care, transportation, professionalism, and leadership, the top professional association in the air medical transportation industry this week singled out the REVA Inc. jet ambulance fleet and staff for its 2014 Fixed-Wing Award of Excellence, based in part on REVA's extraordinary safety and community service record. The Association of Air Medical Services bestowed its prestigious award this week at the climax of its annual conference, held this year in Nashville, Tenn., and attended by more than 4,000 professionals and leaders in the air ambulance and medical transportation industry. "The AAMS Award of Excellence confirms what everyone who is a part of the REVA team knows - that we take extraordinary pride in every aspect of our safety procedures and record," said Dominic Acevedo, REVA Director of Safety. "Safety at REVA is not just a manual," he said. "It is an attitude and a practice that are systemic - fully integrated and deployed at both the human level and at the analytical, risk management, and assessment levels." The results are measurable: "REVA's fleet of Learjet air ambulances, medical crews, pilots, and ground support have accomplished more than 1,300 missions worldwide in just the past 10 months without incident. That is the most recent data coming out of the corporation's quarter century of medical air service and 25,000+ safe missions touching base in 65 countries with a 100 percent safety record. Acevedo described the highlights of REVA's safety culture, including community partnerships for disaster planning, survival and ditching training modules, crash and fire rescue crew training and preparedness, hazardous materials management, and coordination with Homeland Security and law enforcement at local, state, and federal levels. In addition to the on-going training at the human level, REVA is an industry leader in applying custom analytical tools to all aspects of risk management and assessment before, during and after every mission, Acevedo said. "We'll have 'Think Pink' ribbons on all our jets throughout October, and we'll all be using pink gloves to raise awareness of a disease that affects so many of our patients," said Dawn Cerbone, REVA Senior Vice President of Marketing. Although the 2014 Award of Excellence is the first AAMS diamond-shaped crystal trophy for REVA, "It won't be our last," Acevedo predicted.
